HOW DO YOU TASTE TEA?
The way real tea experts taste tea is very similar to the way wine is savored and tasted. However, tea is first brewed then allowed to cool and then slurped (it’s called aspirating) to evaluate taste and aroma.
To taste tea, experts slurp it to the back of their throats to atomize it, allowing them to taste and smell simultaneously.
The following qualities are considered when sampling tea:
BOUQUET
The aroma of the tea both hot and cold.
BRIGHTNESS
Fresh, light, and lively taste.
CHARACTER
This refers to a quality that is characteristic of the specific region the tea came from.
COLOR
Good quality teas have a rich deep color and good strength.
LIQUOR
The density of the tea within the cup.
